About me
Amy Danford, She/her
Amy Danford is a fourth-generation Japanese American community-based art therapist, educator, and artist with over 25 years of experience connecting individuals to the healing power of art. She has held positions at the Queens Museum of Art, Cincinnati Art Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Brandywine Museum of Art, where she developed and led programs for audiences of all ages and abilities.
Her work has supported children and adults with cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities; incarcerated individuals; Alzheimer’s patients; and dual diagnosis patients. For the past five years, Amy has served as the Lower School Counselor at Friends Select School in Philadelphia. She brings a deep understanding of how art intersects with diversity and identity work, creating space for individuals to explore, uncover, and share their stories through art-making and meaningful dialogue. Amy’s grandparents and mother were incarcerated in Poston, Arizona, and their experiences
inform much of her work today.
