Al Vernacchio, he/him/his
Al Vernacchio, MSEd teaches at Friends' Central School in Wynnewood, PA. He is the Assistant Director of the Department of Diversity, Equity, and Justice, and the Coordinator of Gender, Sexuality, and Consent Education. In his role, Al helps community members deepen their understanding of diversity, equity, and justice through the lens of Quaker values.
A nationally recognized expert in human sexuality education for over 30 years, Al has lectured, published articles, and offered workshops throughout the country. Al has given four TED Talks, and has appeared in national and international media, and is the author of For Goodness Sex: A Sex-Positive Guide to Raising Healthy, Empowered Teens published in a revised and expanded edition in April. 2023.
Al earned his BA in Theology from St. Joseph's University and his MSEd in Human Sexuality Education from the University of Pennsylvania. He has completed diversity professional development programming including: The Institute for Teaching Diversity and Social Justice, The National Diversity Practitioners Institute, White Allies in the Struggle for Racial Justice, Queering Racial Justice, and The Race Institute for K-12 Educators. Al is a member of Chestnut Hill Monthly Meeting.
