Lana Sommers, they/them
Lana is a board certified art therapist and licensed professional counselor who has worked in schools, camps, in private practice and clinical education for many years. As a neurodivergent therapist Lana specializes in neurodivergent affirming practice with children and their families individually while on a larger scale helping to educate and break down barriers within systems that perpetuate oppression of marginalized populations. Lana is passionate about utilizing art mediums to support self awareness, connection and authentic self expression. Lana currently holds the position of Middle School Counselor at Greene Street Friends School Lana also teaches at Moore College of Art and Design and runs art therapy groups with the Music Man Butterfly Buddies program. Lana’s approach is rooted in accessibility, warmth, authenticity and self expression, helping children and teens build their self awareness and self compassion while also contextualizing marginalized lived experiences and how society contributes to mental health inequality.
