About me
Cara Shaw is a visionary leader and innovative educator who collaborates in community to develop frameworks for change. As a seventh-year upper school English teacher at Mary McDowell Friends School, she fosters student-led, inquiry-based learning by incorporating contemporary culture and global perspectives into classic literature instruction to support students with learning disabilities. Cara holds a Master’s in Education in Reading Education and has served as an adjunct English professor at Howard Community College, and as the Special Education Liaison for students dually enrolled in high school and community college for the Howard County Public School System in Maryland. Beyond the classroom, Cara is an author and the founder of QuinceED, a professional learning consultancy specializing in instructional design and professional development.
